Fashion from the 50s,60s,70s,80s, and 90s


50s

Square shoulders, femininity silhouette-  Square shoulders and short skirts were replaced by Christian Dior's new look with its sweeping longer skirts, fitted waist, and rounded shoulders. This was the surburban lifestyle with the casual sports wear that was for men and women.





 60s

                      Pillbox hat, no accessories, Colors and Tones, psychedelic prints


 70s

Platform shoes, wide leg Pants, and Jersey wrapped dresses- Wide leg pants and platform shoes was worn by men and women. Mini skirts, med calf, and ankle length gave women three different skirt length, but then came tight fitting shorts called hot pants.


 80s

Shoulder pads, Mini skirts and Doc Martens- Women wore a lot of prints, leopard and leg warmers and baggy shirts and sweaters. The tighter and shorter the skirt was the better, body hugging dresses and skirts were also popular in the 80s. Valley Girl or Punk Rock was what its was with the big hair and dramatic colorful makeup.


 90s

Neon colors and Leggings and Exercise-wear- The early 90s saw a continuation of 80s fashion women wore denim button down shirts, neon colors, over sized sweaters, T-shirts, and black leather jackets. Matching jeans and denim jackets began to be made in darker shades rather than the bleached acid washed. Leotards worn as tops with jeans were popular. A common outfit was to wear a skirt, dress shorts, with black opaque tights, and white sneakers.
